ULMAN – World Beats & Ethno Groove

After the successful concert of the project ILanD 2009 ULMAN and the Israel-based HaBanot Nechama were on TV at ARD Nachtmagazin.

Here are some pictures of our wonderful journey.

In the beginning of November we are going to visit Israel and our friends of "Habanot Nechama". We are looking forward to play with them in Tel Aviv.

We regret having to announce that the concerts in Rudolstadt (21.3.) and Jena (22.3.) have to be cancelled due to health problems in the band.

We apologize for this inconvenience!

First concerts with the new album

From next week on the first concerts of our electrokustica tour are beginning.
We will play in

Rudolstadt [21.03.]
Jena [22.03.]

We are looking forward to a great lot of visitors and crowded locations. For those who won´t be able to come we will write a little tour diary under guestbook.
Besides there will be some live impressions to look at under pics.
Before you can meet us on MDR SPUTNIK. On March 11, we will be live in the program DEIN MORGEN.
In the evening at 9 p.m. you can hear an interview and some bits of our new album in "Folk & Welt" on MDR Figaro.

Marlon 'Sibusiso' Klein produces ULMAN

For our new album „electrokustica" we could win mastermind of "Die Dissidenten" and world music pioneer Marlon 'Sibusiso' Klein as a producer.

Since Tuesday we are staying on our Klangkosmos tour in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
For all those, who couldn´t come to our concerts or want to know what we think about it, here are some impressions in our tour diary. Wether traffic jams or speed cameras. Dortmund or Essen, beer or parties - Demian is writing in our GUESTBOOK.

ULMAN and their favorite festival

The recent show at tff in Rudolstadt should have convinced the last doubters: ULMAN is ready for the big festivals. 7000 people were celebrating our music and our performance. No matter if Rock, Drum ´n Bass or Hip Hop, the hands were in the air and the bodies moving. You can find some impressions of the festival from Jörg Wolf in the PICS section or a video at VIDS.
Now we take a time out to relax on vacation after this eventful summer. However in September we will be presenting our next highlight to our fans: ULMAN unplugged. We exchange our highly electrified equipment with completely acoustic instruments and tour western Germany.
Last but not least a not so exciting information. All of you waiting in vain for our new album, we have to tell you that it will take us a little longer than expected. We are planning the release for Februrary 2009.

DEMIAN KAPPENSTEIN IS OUR NEW DRUMMER

At the beginning of this year Demian Kappenstein joined our band as the drummer.

But we enjoyed the many fruitful years together with Uli. Thanks again for everything!

Now we are rehearsing a lot with Demian because many new songs are waiting for us (beside our standard repertoire).

BIELEFELD CONCERT CAN BE HEARD ON 22 NOV

Our concert on November 14th, 2007 at the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle in Bielefeld was recorded by the radio station WDR 3 and will be broadcasted on 22nd November about 8 pm. For those who cannot receive WDR 3, listen to our concert via internet and have fun!!

BERLIN CONCERT RECORDED

For all who missed it or couldn`t come and for those who enjoyed it so much: Our concert in Berlin at “Werkstatt der Kulturen” on 2nd November was recorded by “Offener Kanal Berlin” and will be shown on 6th November from 10 a.m. in the Berlin cablenet and at the same time on the internet www.okb.de.
Repeats are on 20th Nov and 18th Dec each from 10 p.m. (only cable)

ULMAN WINS THE CREOLE FINALS IN DORTMUND

A terrific weekend is behind us!
With our performance in Dortmund on Saturday, 19 May we won the “creole 2007 – Prize for Worldmusic from Germany”, together with Ahoar from Bonn and Äl Jawala from Freiburg. Still dazed by this success we would like to thank the audience, the jury, the organisers, the really competent stage crew and the friendly artists’ guides. The warmest congratulations also go to our co-winners Äl Jawala and Ahoar. The atmosphere in the “Domicil” was great, the organisation of the festival excellent, the party and talks with the other musicians inspiring. We are really happy to be one of the winners and we hope that this success will make it possible to carry our music to more people in future.

Friday, January 19th´07 just before 01:00 was the crucial moment: “… and the three winners are: Maramme, Niniwe and . . . . . U L M A N . . .” The day before, we had apparently staged a convincing thirty-minute performance, at least we got the impression we’d done well, and the audience (thanks again to everyone who was there!) was definitely enthusiastic about it. We had a splendid time at the Moritzbastei these two evenings.
We want to take the chance to congratulate the other two winners and say thanks to everyone for all their good wishes and congratulations.

The new ULMAN Album “VIBES” was delivered directly to the TFF in Rudolstadt. Next station was Altenburg. There, at our lovely CD stall, several copies at once changed hands.
